Codding Cottage, First LEED platinum Home
Sean McCutcheon's Air Conditioning and Heating is proud to have worked on what may be the first LEED platinum home in the U.S.
"The Codding Cottage is a state of the art home located in the historic neighborhood of Laurel Park in downtown Sarasota. The design is a collaborative effort put forth by architect Dale Parks of Siebert Architects, Phil Carey of Engage Aviation, and Josh Wynne of Josh Wynne Construction.
The Codding Cottage is equipped with all of the latest green innovations. Insulated impact-resistant windows, spayed foam insulation, no VOC paints and sealants, and low-flow faucets have all become standard in most green certified homes but The Codding Cottage doesn't stop there. The home will be equipped with a 2.8 kilowatt solar photo-voltaic array, rain water cisterns, dual-flush toilets, and a high-tech HVAC system as well as many other great innovations. Two Trails, Inc led by Drew Smith is the green certifying agent on this project. Preliminary numbers show that this home should easily surpass the minimum scores required for USGBC's LEED Platinum for Homes accreditation. This may be the first LEED Platinum home in the US. In addition to LEED certification, The Codding Cottage will also be certified by FGBC, EnergyStar, and BuildSmart."
The project was completed December 1, 2008.
